Trivia

0601I’m trying to get back into the posting spirit, folks!  I’ve been busy lately but hopefully I can get back on this.  Let’s start the most recent quiz results from last Sunday’s quiz at the Wolfhound:

WINNING TEAM:  Those Guys Over There (131 points)

2ND PLACE:  Funny, Easy to Read & Slightly Shorter Than A Paragraph (126)

BEST TEAM NAME:  Dr. Owl’s Talon Show (119)

LAST PLACE:  We’ve Got Wigs For Our Wigs (45)

With a packed house and a temporarily busted mike, last Sunday’s quiz was indeed a memorable one. One person called me their “hero”. Liancourt Rocks is streaking again, having taken advantage of a history round that kept them at the top of all three scoring periods.

A good though small crowd showed up to this last Sunday’s quiz.  I only had to request for people to not shout out the answers about 22 times or so, but fun people nonetheless.  Liancourt Rocks saw another second place finish at my quiz, though they’ve been holding their own on opposite Sundays.  Here are the scores for Nov. 16th:

Winners:  How Long Will It Take To Get the Smell of Stupid Out of the White House?  (132 points)

7th Place:  Nananenenininunaninananinanon (97)

Suffering from a nasty cold for one week is my excuse for not posting anything for a week.  November 5th saw a packed and enthusiastic crowd at the Wolfhound, and Liancourt Rocks saw yet another 2nd place finish at Garrett’s quiz.  The scores:

*”How Many Clowns Can You Fit in a Wolfhound Toilet”, sticking around long enough to earn the LAST PLACE FINISHER prize.

003

*”Fred West Ham”, desperately pretending to be one of the winners in order to earn free beer.  I don’t know if they were successful.

We had a great crowd for the quiz this Sunday, and even better, we had a Ninja-Pirate round!  How we you wasting your Sunday evening?  When polled on which was the superior specimen, the ninja defeated the pirate 4 teams to 2, with one team picking Batman (who’s closer to being a ninja) and another team rambling about how neither are better as they don’t fight with honor or something (lame…).  The four teams that made the correct choice were awarded with paper shurikens made by yours truly!  Scores:

Winners: Joe Six Packs and Soccer Moms* (120 points)

2nd Place: Liancourt Rocks (and 2 People We Met at a Juicy Bar) (114)

3rd Place: Joe the Plumbers (102)

6th Place: Mac Daddy Donald* (60)

7th Place: The C.H.U.D.s (53)

8th Place: The Big Mics* (48)

In what was one of my harder quizzes in some time, a team of four virtually won after the first two rounds, even though they did horribly in the fifth round.  My cats round was one of the hardest yet, though trees was much harder for people.  Scores:

Winner:  Liancourt Rocks (134)

2nd Place:  That Dude Over There Is Creepy (109)

3rd Place:  Blake Sabbath (100)

4th Place:  Libras Love Lots (97)

5th Place:  I Can See Russia From My House (69)  BEST TEAM NAME

6th Place:  IQ of 1 (63)

7th Place:  Bushy Minge (45)

8th Place:  Con Cojones (32)

A new job and new apartment and various other trips and activities = negligent posting.  In a effort to get back on track, here are the winners from my last two quiz nights.  Props to Liancourt Rocks during the last quiz for winning with only three (these guys win a lot), and to all contenders for finishing that quiz over 100 points!  Back on Aug. 31st, 2 Minutes in Heaven won due to their insanely-strong bird knowledge.

With Buddha’s Birthday the following day and Man U. playing at 11:00pm local time, there was a big crowd at the Wolfhound this last Sunday.  I’m still disappointed at people for doing poorly in my round about trees, but in hindsight I should have made that the last (and therefore hardest) round.  People had fun anyway, so who cares?

Copying Johnny Goodtimes (back in Phily) and Three Alley Pub (here in Seoul) a little bit, two prizes went out to the last place team (crayons) and the best named team (wind-up cars).  Some teams were disappointed at not winning ‘best named’, but I had to go with the one that made me think the most.

Winners:  The Baby Ate My Dingo (150 points)

2nd Place:  Crazy Cow (119)

3rd Place:  I Will Make You Cum [written in Korean] (118)

11th Place:  Wayne’s Foreskin Must Be Kut!  (60)

All sorts of interesting things at the Wolfhound this last Sunday, including:

- An error on my part.  The very first question was a news item that I read incorrectly, and took “Russia” instead of “Kazakhstan” as the answer for the country where the recent Soyuz mission with the first Korean astronaut was launched.  Fortunately, there were no disruptions to the scores that people can complain about, so I shrug my shoulders.  My apologies, folks.

- There were a couple of hilarious guys that were soused from the get-go.  One dude would randomly shout out different things and blow on one of those horns you bring to soccer matches or the like (what do you call those damn things?), this other dude was desperately trying to feed me a fry, and yet another dude shouted out the first answer “Russia”, which was apparently wrong.

- I keep taking bad pictures at the ‘Hound.  Need to fiddle with my instrument…so to speak.

Good times…

Winners:  Durex (120 points) +1 [for "Kazakhstan" error]

2nd Place:  Whitter Than Thou (115)

3rd Place:  Steven Can’t Swim (114) -1 [for "Russia" error]

4th Place:  Just the Tip…Just to See How It Feels (105) +1

5th Place:  I am a Cock Juggler (96) +1

6th Place:  Snippet Gold! (90) -1

7th Place:  평신 (85) -1

8th Place:  UNO (73) -1

9th Place:  Team Tomkat (43) +1

I just recently started a regular schedule of the second and fourth Sunday at Wolfhound, and what better way to kick it off than for my smallest audience yet that evening (it was raining).  Of course, the game goes a bit faster with a smaller crowd, so there is some balance.  The first three rounds went well, but people struggled a bit with my difficult fourth and fifth round.  Also, for the first time, we finished with a tie for first, and all ties here are settled by a rep from each team attempting to down a mug first.  Regretfully, I didn’t take a picture of that particular contest.  The results:
