Updates

OK, what have I been up to the past couple of months?

 - I have a brand new ASUS M50 notebook that’s hot (both figuratively and literally, I need to buy a fan for that sucker) and a new Kodak SLR-like camera, so not only am I hooked up for future postings, it’s all new and improved, baby!

 - I spent about two weeks in America with my lady, visiting family in upstate New York, Boston, NYC and back in Philly.  Not only did I have a great trip, I replaced all of my drab old clothes since I lost a bit of weight, and even got a number of free books.  Life was sweet.

 - I’m back to work in a new school, though I feel like I’m in the sticks here on the eastern edge of Seoul.

 - I’m back at the quiz, though I haven’t updated the winners from my last one just yet.

So all in all, things are looking up.  When I have new updates and cool stuff to write, I’ll try to put it down.

For a couple of personal reasons (and also annoying problems with a camera), I am once again behind in my posts, but I’m still here!  Sorry but I’ll get some stuff up soon.

…I’ve been a bit ill as of late and have been a bit too tired and/or preoccupied to update the blog.  It seems the yellow dust is gettin’ to me,  ’cause I’ve had some rough allergy problems, something my body is not used to.  I’ve plenty to share soon.  Sorry to the eight or so people that read this crap!

 - It’s getting to be spring time here in Seoul, and I have missed being outside.  It’s terrible being in a new city and discouraged from exploring it.  Expect at least one new segment coming soon to the blog; a weekly (or close to it) picture of interesting landmarks and sculptures around town.

- I’ve no upcoming quiz dates scheduled, and that’s no good for me!  Time to e-mail the bar owners!

- I’m currently writing drafts on the prospects of either Clinton or Obama earning the Dem nom and competing with John McCain for the Presidency.  The Obama points will probably be more interesting (sorry, Hillary-fans).

- I hope my bank here in Korea has worked out that little month-long transfer problem now, because I do not want to face possible jail time just after acting on the need to slay them.

- Another thing to look forward to; my picks for division winners in Major League Baseball!  Excitement abounds!

- Also, coming articles on the last book I read and CD I listened to.  The CD choice may surprise those who know me back home.

– Didn’t do standup and quiz last Sunday after all (several reasons, none important).

- Check my review for “Vantage Point”, but don’t watch the film.

- Going to see “The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged)” this week. Coolsville!

- Back at school and don’t know my schedule yet. Meh.

As it stands, I’ve got the following scheduled for those who interested on this side of the globe:

02/27/08 – Trivia Night Hosting, Phillies

03/02/08 – Stand-up for Open Mike Night, Timeout OR Woodstock

03/02/08 – Trivia Night Hosting, Wolfhound

Come out, come out, wherever you are!

- Went to Gyeongju during the New Year holidays with some friends, which was a great trip.  I’m really behind on writing on some of my experiences here, so I’ll have to amend that soon.  Check the pictures, kids!

- I’m still angry that I couldn’t watch the Super Bowl.  Yeah G-Men!

- I’m currently reading What Is Your Most Dangerous Idea?, a collection of essays by various scholars.  It’s been quite enjoyable and thought-provoking; expect a review of it in time.

- I’m back in the mix for quiz hosting and am compiling ideas for open-mike stand-up.  Hopefully I’ll have some experiences to share in that department before too long.

- I have vacation time in a week and have no clue what to do.  I’m promised to trivia so can’t go on a long trip, my lady friend is otherwise preoccupied so I’ll have limited engagements with her out and about, and the weather isn’t encouraging much else.  Oh pooh.

…”I DON’T WANNA DO THESE TAXES!”

- My winter English school camp went fairly well.  I hosted a trivia show composed of English words learned at the camp, threw snowballs at little children, entertained students with poor acting and Youtube videos, and even taught every once in a while.  Everyone had fun times, though it was quite an exhausting experience.  I don’t know where I get the energy to entertain kids as I do.

- I went on my first Korean date last night; took a lovely lady to an Italian place and then a jazz club; both cool places (and expensive, yikes)!  She’s willing to talk to me again, so I consider the evening a smashing success.

- The New York football Giants won the NFC championship and are off to the Super Bowl.  Man, my G-Men are in the zone right now.  Too bad I won’t be able to watch the game, but if I can figure out how to use my VCR over the next two weeks, eh, maybe I can tape it.  You’re going 18-1, New England! (he says somewhat confidently)

- The only sore point is that I don’t know when I’ll be hosting a trivia show next, but I have started indulging the idea of doing stand-up on open mike nights in town, so at least I can still put on a show.  Two weeks ago at a place called Time Out, I told two bad jokes.  But now I’m working on a bona-fide repeitoire, and look forward to my next chance in the spotlight.

More soon, kids!

- I owe people an article on my Korean War Memorial visit, as well as my 63 building visit and photos.  All that soon.

- New Year’s Eve was fun, if by fun you mean trying to throw darts at GoGo’s while holding a White Russian and groaning about people bumping into me as I was aiming.

- My Open Mike Night debut at Time Out was a smashing success, if by success you mean a small group of people nervously chuckling at my two non-PC jokes.  And most of those were my friends, who are now no longer my friends.  Good times.

- I finally got myself a copy of Stephen Colbert’s “I am America”.  Now bus trips to work are way more amusing.

More soon!
